Gas Safe Register

Gas Safe Register is the official list of gas engineers who are qualified to work safely and legally on gas appliances. By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register, but there are illegal gas fitters out there. Remember – always use a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer for any gas work.

All Gas Safe registered engineers carry a Gas Safe Register ID card. Before any gas work is carried out always check the card and make sure the engineer is qualified for the work you need doing.

Badly Fitted Gas Appliances Are Dangerous

  • Badly fitted and poorly serviced appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions, and carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is a highly poisonous gas. You can’t see it, taste it, or smell it, but it can kill quickly and without warning.

Protect yourself from the dangers by following these simple steps:

    • Only use a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit, fix or service your gas appliances.
    • Get your gas appliances regularly serviced and safety checked every year.
    • Fit an audible carbon monoxide alarm that is marked BS EN 50291.
    • Check for warning signs such as lazy yellow flames and black marks or stains around the appliance.
    • Know the six main symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning – headaches, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness, collapse, and loss of consciousness.

Landlords Legal Responsibility

Landlords are legally responsible for the safety of their tenants. Landlords should make sure regular maintenance and annual safety checks on gas appliances are carried out by a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. By law, landlords must make sure:

  • that all appliances and flues that they provide for tenants use have an annual safety check
  • that maintenance and annual safety checks are carried out by a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer
  • a gas safety record is provided to the tenant within 28 days of completing the check and to any new tenant before they move in
  • they keep a copy of the gas safety record for until a further two annual checks have taken place
  • all gas equipment (including any appliance left by a previous tenant) is safe or otherwise removed before re-letting.

Central Heating System Power Flush

Benefits of Our Power Flush Service

A power flush can offer several benefits for your central heating system:

  1. Improved Efficiency: By removing sludge, rust, and debris, a power flush ensures better circulation of water through your radiators and pipes, making your heating system more efficient.

  2. Cost Savings: A more efficient system means lower energy bills as your boiler doesn’t have to work as hard to heat your home.

  3. Increased Lifespan: Regular power flushing can extend the life of your boiler and radiators by preventing blockages and corrosion.

  4. Better Heating: You’ll notice an improvement in heating performance, with fewer cold spots on radiators and quicker heating times.

  5. Reduced Noise: A clean system reduces the noise from your boiler and pipes, as there are fewer obstructions causing gurgling or banging sounds.

  6. Peace of Mind: Knowing that your heating system is clean and well-maintained can provide peace of mind and reduce the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns.
